Dvaravati (Land of Buddhism)
Refers to the kingdom situated in the Chao Phraya river basin between the 7 th and 11 centuries AD.
Important archaeological objects of Dvaravati art comprise Buddhism related sculptures representing two distinct sects known as Theravada and Mahayana.
Lopburi Art
Lopburi art is widely found in the Central, East, and the Northeast of Thailand. It can be dated around the 11th to 13 th centuries AD.
The culture was centred in the city of Lopburi and Was much influenced by Khmer art and culture as It spread through Northeast Thailand. Because of this, Lopburi art is similar to the Khmer art of Cambodia.
Sukhothai Art
In The 14 th century A.D., King Sri Indrathit Declared Sukhothai’s liberation from of Buddhism Based on The Sri Lankan School. During this period, Sukhothai Art
Developed a radically different appearance to Mon and Khmer style.
Ayutthaya Art
The Ayutthaya period began when King Ramathibodi 1 (King U Thong) established Ayutthaya as a capital city in the 10 th century A.D. The city survived until its second defeat in the 18th century A.D. at the hands of the Burmese.
Srivijaya Art
The Srivijava Kingdom is believed to have thrived in Sumatra Between the 8 th and 13 th centuries A.D. Through the numerious art objects found from this period, we know the culture came to dominate some parts of Southern Thailand.
Chiang Saen – Lanna Art
Chiang Saen – Lanna Art refers to objects found in Northern Thailand. Dating between 11 th , 13 th or 10 centuries A.D. The Buddha images from this period can be categorized into two distinct phases.
U Thong Art
The art of U Thong oriinated in the central region of Thailand between the 12 th and 15th centuries A.D. The style was developed with influences from different areas.
Rattanakosin Art
The current era, which is known as the Rattanakosin period began when King Rama 1 established Bangkok as the capital of Thailand in the 10 th century A.D. The period can be categorized into two distinct phases.
